The LMC was founded by Esther Osborn (1911- ) and Wilhelmine Wieboldt (1911-2001) in the early 1950s in order to present the Gospel to people in Southern India by teaching literacy, primarily to children, but also to adults.  World Headquarters of the Literacy Mission Center’s work in South India, Esther now spends the majority of time here in her latter years. Throughout most of her history, however, she would regularly make visiting ’rounds’ to the other towns of the LMC in circuit from Bangalore to Kotagiri to Tumbal Valley to Chennai (Madras).  Faith Chapel (founded 2000) is here, on Banaswadi Road.

Ventura County Together is a collaboration of 40 nonprofit organizations, public agencies and community members that have joined forces to do something about this growing crisis.

Food, Shelter, Health Care – the basics we all need to survive. And yet a growing number of us across Ventura County are struggling to make ends meet and can’t provide these basics for ourselves and our families.

Friends of Heschel West is a group of parents who plan events to benefit the award-winning programs and staff of the school.

Heschel West, founded in 1994, is a community day school that teaches the whole student with an integrated General and Judaic education emphasizing intellectual, spiritual and creative development. Heschel West is a National Blue Ribbon School. Heschel West’s mission is to develop committed, enthusiastic lifelong learners and leaders through innovative curriculum with a particular focus on critical thinking.

Every school must fundraise in order to sustain and continuously improve their programs. Fundraising activities at Heschel West support the high quality, award-winning curriculum and staff in addition to strengthening the tuition assistance fund so that families who are in need of financial aid can send their children to Heschel West.
